"My names Alexandra (@xandraewen), I grew up in a small town at the foot of the rockies in Alberta, I’m now based out of Tofino, BC. Inspiration comes out most when I am out in nature, either surfing, snowboarding, or hiking, they all get the ideas flowing.If I don’t get outside during the day I get a little kooky! Lately I have been getting inspired by people watching, especially living in a tourist town. The whole idea that people are “exploring” this beautiful scenery, with stunning beaches and their phone has become their eyes, it makes me laugh. We are a funny creatures, Nature vs Human or I guess now Nature vs Technology, its a funny balance. I hope my art stirs the brain, makes the viewer question things, happy or sad as long as it provokes something. For the future of my work I want to be more focused on the environment and making people realize what a beautiful place we have, encourage us to put the technology down and get outside. Find what makes them happy."
