A TALK WITH ELISE LEGAULT AND MATHIEU CAUCHON

How did you guys meet?

We met on the dance floor of a cozy club. We were dancing on some super kitsch music. And, we connected big time, you know.

Favorite place to hang together?

La Belle Tonki, I discovered this restaurant by chance at the Poutine Week. The Kimchi poutine was out of this world! We fell in love with Michel, the owner, and now it’s our favorite spot to chill.

What makes Math and Elise different than other duos?

We are in a fusional-independent type of relationship. We don’t see each other often, but when we do, it’s pure honesty, insightful discussions and madness, but in a good way. We love to play very cerebral games. Like, lay back, try to dream for 15 minutes and talk about what we saw. It’s called astral projection. Yup.

What is your cheesy side?

There are no wrong ways to talk about love. Cheesy or not. It’s cool to love! We are more crazy-love than cheesy. We like to challenge each other with our ideas and get on some weird projects… like writing a song for the Belle Tonki and send it to them on a postal card, hahaha!

Only Elise would say/do…

‘’Dude’’

Only Mathieu would say/do…

Only Mathieu would print a photo of himself naked on my birthday cake and serve it to me naked in front of 30 or 40 people! Only Mathieu would make up all these slogans with my name, like ‘’Elise what it is!

What do you like best about Elise/Mathieu?

Everything, except nothing. We are independent. We have our phases. We can go for months without seeing each other and it’s doesn’t feel awkward at all. When we see each other, we have so much stories to tell. Elise never judges. She listens and is genuinely interested. There is no filter between us. We have honest discussions that are very enriching. I see it as a mark of mutual respect… we both make each other feel special.

Math, what are you doing for a living? What are your passions?

I used to be a spy for the army, but I injured my elbow in a jet ski accident. So, I started a prod company with a friend (la corp). It was very freestyle at the beginning, but it ended up worked well. I think we did the good thing by surrounding ourselves with very talented friends.

I am the proud father of a beautiful four-year-old girl and I will get married with a wonderful woman. I am in a half-acceptable shape and I suck at sudoku. Instead, I started to rap (nothing serious though, it’s just funny).

Elise, what are you doing for a living? What are your passions?

I am brand strategy and content freelancer, I also host radio shows and podcasts. Humans fascinate me, and I love to observe the human behaviour. There is so much irony in the way we act and react, it’s hilarious.
